CFP: The Encyclopedia of Hate

Editors John Shuford and Rebecca Barrett-Fox are seeking authors to contribute to their forthcoming reference resource: The Encyclopedia of Hate: A Global Study of Social Enmity. They have announced a particular focus on the relationship between religion and hatred. Anyone interested in receiving a list of desired entries and learning more about contributing to the project should contact the editors via email at  [email protected]. Please include a 2 page CV illustrating relevant interests and qualifications. Below is the original call for entries.


The Encyclopedia of Hate: A Global Study of Social Enmity co-editors Dr. John Shuford and Dr. Rebecca Barrett-Fox seek  subject/topic entries in these areas:  understanding what hate is, how  hate arises and manifests, experiences of hatred in context, and how to address hate appropriately and effectively; the editors are specifically seeking work addressing religiously inspired hatred, hatred directed at religious groups, and anti-hate efforts led and supported by religious Americans The Encyclopedia will be an interdisciplinary resource, focused on North America but with international scope. Contributions are sought from researchers/scholars (the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and professional fields), educators, policymakers, practitioners, and field experts.  Please contact [email protected] to discuss project needs and sample subjects/topics. Please also submit a resume or short CV of no more than 2 pages that highlights your relevant interests and qualifications by May 10.
