At SWCRS last weekend, we elected your new AAR Southwest Student Director Andrew Klumpp!
Here is a bit about him:
Andrew is a Ph.D. candidate studying U.S. Religious History in the Graduate Program in Religious Studies at SMU. His research focuses on the origins and implications of rural-urban tensions in the Gilded Age and Progressive Era for religious communities. Prior to starting in the Religious Studies Department at SMU, he attended college in Iowa and completed a masters degree in North Carolina.
He is interested in engaging with and representing graduate students in the region. Both at SMU and beyond, he is particularly engaged in professional development for graduate students, digital methodologies, online education, and career diversity for scholars of religion.
In addition to his academic and professional interests, Andrew enjoys traveling, inasmuch as a grad student budget allows, baking, and bicycling, having completed a personal goal of riding his bike across his home state last summer.
He’s excited to step into this role to serve students throughout the region and looks forward to meeting many of you whether here on Facebook, on Twitter (@aklumpp), or at the regional or national meetings. ... See MoreSee Less
