AAR scholars in the Southwest region are eligible for a number of grants and scholarship to further their research.

AAR-SW Regional Travel Grant

The AAR Regions Committee provides each region with $300 for regional meeting travel grants. The grant may be awarded to one AAR member traveling to the regional meeting or divided among several people. A committee chaired and appointed by the Regional Coordinator solicits applications and makes decisions how to allocate the funds. Grant applicants participating in the regional meeting who lack institutional support are given preference in the selection process.  The Southwest Region of the AAR meets each year in March at the Southwest Commission on Religious Studies.

To apply for the AAR-SW Regional Travel Grant submit the Grant Application  detailing 1) the applicant’s intention and reason for applying; 2) the applicant’s participation and responsibilities at the upcoming AAR-SW regional meeting; and 3) the anticipated institutional support for the applicant’s travel to, and participation in, the upcoming AAR-SW regional meeting.

All Grant Application Letter should be submitted to the AAR-SW Regionally Elected Coordinator by December 1. The Travel Grant Committee will return grant decisions by December 10.
